Welcome to the city of Tours, a 3000 years-old city in the heart of france's history. Royal city during the Renaissance, it still has a remarkable medieval city centre even if it was loudly bombed during World War 2, as it was placed at a strategic place. Tours is Saint Martin's city, a roman soldier who converted to Chritianism and chritiannised France during the IVth century, and was one of the city's first bishops. After his death, a huge pilgrimage started and had its climax during the Middle Anges, when people from all over Europe would come and prey his relics before going down south towards Santiago de Compostella. You'll discover its amazing cathedral with 800 years-old original stainglasses, old timber-framed houses, Renaissance city palaces and charming squares. Tours is a dynamic city today, welcoming numerous students who live in teh city old centre.
